Lifestyles by Area

From Aspen to Glenwood, the Roaring Fork Valley offers a lifestyle of outdoor activity, cultural diversity, climate variations, and many options for dining, shopping and entertainment. From community to community, the lifestyle has subtle, yet significant differences. This section intends to identify and distinguish just what those subtleties are...

aspen

Volumes have been written about the Aspen lifestyle. Magazines exist for the sole purpose of describing it. Mountains and rivers, culture and glamour, simple to sophisticated …Aspen has it all.

SNOWMASS village

Skiing at Snowmass is first-class and world-class.  Some of the best runs in the world are at Snowmass ... no matter what your ability.  A day at Snowmass is unforgettable, year after year.  Because of the varying terrain, an expert can find as much challenge as a beginner!  Snowmass and Snowmass Village are very family-oriented and transportation-friendly.

BASALT

In years past, Basalt was considered the “bedroom community” for Aspen.  The population today is a blend of full-time residents and second homeowners … a balance which may be surprising to everyone.  Nonetheless, all are thrilled to call Basalt home.

Many changes have taken place in Basalt in the last few years, with more promised in the near future.  The Basalt Library is a huge addition to the community … providing a valuable service to families up and down the valley.  Rocky Mountain Institute is developing a new, state-of-the-art building for their headquarters on a multiple-acre site.  This area, next to the river, will include a park and probably a new hotel. The Sunday Farmer’s Market is just one indication of the vitality of this timeless town.  Try out the restaurants and shopping … good fun!

CARBONDALE

Carbondale is one of the “most desirable small towns to call home” or so says the cover article in National Geographic!  It’s a confluence of cultures … part cowboy, part hippy, part artist.  Mix in the enthusiasm of a 30’s-something scene and it really is a happening place.  Carbondale takes pride in its fine dining with a tilt toward farm-to-table menus.  The Third Street Center provides space for non-profits, local artists, community meetings.  “First Fridays” invite the community to come explore the restaurants, shops and galleries.  Main Street is packed with bikes and pedestrians as folks mingle together.

RANCH LIVING

The Rocky Mountains with high peaks, rushing rivers and broad, fertile valleys are perfect for a ranch living.  Ranches in the Roaring Fork Valley range in size from 10 acres to 100’s of acres.  Ranches are not money-making operations, but they are a way of life.  The ranch lifestyle is available from Aspen to Glenwood Springs.
